It’s often said that you never appreciate where you live, familiarity breeding contempt and all that!. I must truly be the exception, because I have always loved my home county, and been acutely aware of how lucky both William Shakespeare and I have been to live here! There is a painting around every corner, and such a wealth of history amid typically beautiful English countryside. I have never been complacent about the fact that I can be on the banks of the Avon in Stratford in 15 minutes, or wandering around the ramparts of Warwick Castle in ten! It was the beautiful Wawickshire countryside which first inspired me, and still gives me enormous pleasure to paint.
